Ingredients:
1 apple, cored and peeled on the upper half 2 tbsp / 30 ml Rogers or Lantic Old Fashioned Brown sugar 1 tsp / 5 ml ground cinnamon ½ tsp / 2 ml ground nutmeg 1 tsp / 5 ml finely chopped or grated lemon zest 1 tbsp / 15 ml chopped toasted walnuts
Preparation:
PLACE THE APPLE in a serving bowl. Mix together the sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and lemon zest and fill the centre of the apple.
COVER WITH PLASTIC WRAP and pierce two holes in it to let the steam escape.
MICROWAVE AT HIGH POWER for 5 minutes, then remove the bowl and let stand for another 5 minutes.
SPOON THE SUGAR SYRUP over the apple and sprinkle with the chopped toasted walnuts.
